Global warming upon us and domainers need to do their part. Here a few suggestions for how you can be a Greener domainer:

  • Don’t buy carbon-intensive domain names like GiantCoalPoweredPowerPlant.com. Get something like RecyclableBeerMugs.com instead. There are a lot more people out there ready to buy beer mugs than stinky coal plants.
  • Build parking pages that don’t have sub-pages. Serving up lots of pages requires more power at server farms- that’s why the Goog builds theirs next to hydro-power sites. Just put a ton of ads and affiliates on one page. Mother nature will love you.
  • Only read one domaining blog- they all cover the same stories over and over again. Why spend all that time and electricity reading the same quoted stories over and over again?
  • Read a blog like this one- the background is a nice blue color that is very relaxing, saving you personal energy. Don’t read a blog like Sahar’s with its pictures of dozens of gas-guzzling Lamborghinis. You might break strategy and sell a valuable domain so you can drive one of those babies. And we know they’re not good for the planet!

That’s just a few ideas- do you know any ways we can become better members of our global green community?
